Pay It Forward with Step Out 2014

NO PURCHASE OR PERSONAL DONATION IS NECESSARY TO WIN. A purchase or personal donation will not increase the chances of winning.
  1. Sponsor

    The sweepstakes is sponsored and administered by the American Diabetes Association ("Sponsor"), located at 1701 N. Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311 1-800-DIABETES.
  2. Eligibility

    Sweepstakes entries are limited to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia, excluding residents of Florida and Rhode Island. Must be at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry. Employees of the American Diabetes Association and their immediate family and household members are not eligible. The sweepstakes is subject to federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited.
  3. Agreement to Official Rules

    Participation in the Sweepstakes constitutes entrants' full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding. Winning a prize is contingent upon compliance with these Official Rules and fulfilling all other requirements set forth herein.
  4. Promotion Period

    The promotion begins at 12 AM EST on December 3, 2013 and ends at 11:59 PM EST on December 6, 2013. Entries submitted before or after the contest period will not be considered. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion, to cancel the sweepstakes in its entirety, or only the online portion, if it becomes technically corrupted or because of non-authorized human intervention.
  5. How to Enter

    Perform a random act of kindness by making an unexpected donation to someone who participated in a Step Out event. Donations of $26 or more will make that walker eligible to win a trip to Hawaii. You may also enter by completing this online form.
  6. Selection of Winner and Odds of Winning

    Winner will be determined by random drawing from all eligible entries received. Drawing will be held on or about December 10, 2013. The odds of winning will be determined by the number of eligible entries received. Winner will be subject to verification.
  7. Notification of Winner

    The selected winners will be notified via e-mail or telephone within fifteen (15) days of selection. If a selected winner cannot be reached within five (5) business days of Sponsor's first attempt to notify such winner, such winner may be disqualified and an alternate winner may be selected from the remaining eligible entries by random drawing. No cash alternative or substitution of any prizes will be offered. Winners must agree to the use of their names, voices, and/or likeness for the purpose of advertising, trade, or promotion without further compensation, unless prohibited by law. Winners may be required to attest to an affidavit of eligibility.
  8. Prize

    The selected winner(s) will receive airfare to and from Honolulu, HI from anywhere in the United States – no blackout dates. Five-night stay at the Sheraton Waikiki or similar. Room Reservations Restrictions: Subject to availability and blackout dates may apply. Based on single/double occupancy. Offer expires October 31, 2014. Value: TBD.
  9. Taxes

    All taxes and other expenses not specified herein, including federal, state, and local, are the sole responsibility of each winner as well as compliance with any federal, state, and local laws and regulations applicable to winners.

  11. Choice of Law

    Except where prohibited, all issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrants and the American Diabetes Association and their agents shall be governed by and construed exclusively in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  12. General Release and Conditions of Participation

    All entrants release the Sponsor, its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, agents, employees and all others associated with the development and execution of the Sponsor and the Sweepstakes from any and all liability with respect to or in any way arising from this Sweepstakes and/or acceptance or use of the prizes, including liability for personal injury, death, damages, or loss.

    The Sponsor is not responsible for entries that are corrupted or otherwise not received correctly or for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site or combination thereof, including injury or damage to participants or to any other person's computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading materials in the sweepstakes. The Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by web site users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Sweepstakes or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions in the Sweepstakes. The Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, including lost, late or misdirected entries. The Sponsor is not responsible for user cheating or fraud by any entrants. Participants engaging in any of the foregoing activities will be disqualified and any prizes won will be forfeited.

    If, for any reason, the Sweepstakes is not capable of proceeding as planned, including without limitation infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of the Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, scrutiny, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes, the Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Sweepstakes.
  13. Privacy

    If any participant wishes to remove their name from the Association's database, email privacy@diabetes.org.
