Register. Fundraise. Stop Diabetes.
Did you know that 1 in 3 children in the United States faces a future with diabetes?
The American Diabetes Association works everyday to change the frightening future that diabetes has in store, but we need your help. Together we can stop diabetes.
Every step you take and every dollar you raise helps the American Diabetes Association provide education programs in our community, protect the rights of people with diabetes and fund critical research for a cure. Once you register, use our online fundraising tools to create your personal web page, email your friends, family and co-workers, accept online donations and raise more money to stop diabetes.
When you walk, you help us stop diabetes. Walking is one of the easiest, most relaxing forms of exercise for many people, but especially for those living with diabetes. By participating in Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes, you can get fit, reduce your risk for type 2 diabetes and support the American Diabetes Association!
Event Information
Thank you so much to everyone that attended the Step Out Walk on Saturday, October 3rd! The walk was a great success because of YOU! We raised more than $85,000 and had over 700 volunteers and walkers at the event. In such desperate times, it is amazing to see what a generous and supportive community we have here in Southern Nevada.
Keep in mind, we have until November 3rd to continue raising money and striving for our ambitious goal of $150,000! Any contributions you receive between now and then will be credited toward your overall walk and team totals. Keep in mind if you raise $200 or more and turn it in by October 3rd, you will be eligible to receive awesome Thank You Gifts! If you qualify, you will receive your Thank You Gift Certificate approximately 6-8 weeks from now.
Every dollar you raise for Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes plays an important role in supporting critical diabetes research, education and outreach.
More than 75 cents of every dollar raised supports the mission of the American Diabetes Association, which is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. Since its inception, the Association has invested more than $450 million in research projects and, each year, conducts professional education activities that reach more than 25,000 health professionals. The Association is also the largest provider of Diabetes Camps as well as weekend retreats and one-day events that benefit more than 10,000 children of all ages every year. We cannot fund these efforts and many more without your support!

Meet Our 2009 Step Out Youth Ambassador

Christopher Hughes
Hi my name is Christopher. I am seven years old. I was diagnosed with diabetes when I was 15 months old. I really want to help along the cure, so we can let diabetes go. The best part of diabetes is all the people we have met. The worst part is that I would really like someday to not have diabetes. Can you please join our team Christopher's Milers? Let's find the cure together!

The $50 in 5 Contest was a great success! Many of you raised even more than $50 in the 5 days, and that is fantastic! The winner of this week’s contest and the “Night Out” Package which includes dinner for 2 at Outback and 2 tickets to Jubilee at Bally’s is Stephanie Lapid of team A.O.K.- Acts of Kindness. Enjoy – you’ve earned it! Remember if you raise a minimum of $125 you will receive an official Step Out Stop Diabetes t-shirt at the event. You still have time to send those e-mails and help us STOP Diabetes on October 3rd at Spring Mountain Ranch.
