Welcome to Step Out in Snow Park, Lake Merritt!
Come join us at beautiful Lake Merritt on Saturday, October 18th as we honor our Red Striders (walkers with diabetes) and celebrate the ability of each and every one of our participants to change the future by making a positive impact in the lives of all people affected by diabetes! Step Out participants are committed to walk and raise money in this inspirational event for the 29 million Americans living with diabetes, and the 86 million Americans who are pre-diabetic.
Our Oakland Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes is a three mile morning walk or run that includes music, family fun activities, a healthy living fair, prizes, and the camaraderie of people united in the fight against diabetes together. There is a one mile optional route for those who would prefer a shorter distance.
You can start a team with your family and friends, company, club/organization, school or walk as an individual. In the weeks leading up to the event, you can ask everyone you know for donations to support your efforts and help fund critical research for a cure and educational programs in our local community.
Walkers who raise or donate $26 towards their personal fundraising goal will receive Lunch.
Walkers who raise or donate $100 towards their personal fundraising goal will receive a commemorative 2014 Step Out Event T-shirt.
Walkers who raise or donate $1,000 are Champions to Stop Diabetes and will also receive a Champions long-sleeved T-shirt, Champions Medal, and be honored with a Champions Ceremony on the Day of the Event.
Teams who raise $5,000 will receive a Team Tent they can proudly decorate and enjoy at the Walk.
