This year highlights a hallmark undertaking by the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles Mystic Shrine of North & South America and its Jurisdictions, Inc. (AEAONMS), by working in collaboration with the American Diabetes Association to Fight Diabetes in our communities, which we have coined the "National Diabetes Initiative". As you may know, well over 3 million African-Americans aged 20 years old and older have diabetes and our desire is to educate our communities that are impacted by this disease the most.
The collaboration with the American Diabetes Association is an imperative measure that can only be successful if we all work together. We've identified a number of first steps that can be used to kick off our National Diabetes Initiative:
- Create Walk Teams for each Oasis and Desert that will work with your local ADA office during Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes;
- Utilize our ADA Web site online manger who will serve as an asset towards your Temple's fundraising goal; and,
- Clean off your fezzes and get your walking shoes ready for the Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes in your area.
