Step up and step out with us to help cure diabetes!
Aetna Volunteerism: a culture of caring Aetna strives to be a leading corporate citizen, improving the quality of life in the communities where we live and work. This commitment has created our "culture of caring" — a tradition of volunteerism and employee community involvement that is part of our core values. We have an award winning program and a national network of highly engaged employee volunteer councils. Nationwide, over 50 Aetna Volunteer Councils are the cornerstone of our volunteer efforts. These are employee teams that identify local community needs and respond accordingly. They take part in fundraisers, team projects, disaster relief and a range of other activities. Since 2003, our employees have logged nearly 2.5 million hours of community service.
One of the many organizations Aetna has supported over the years is the American Diabetes Association (ADA). In 2011, Aetna's employees were involved in ADA events in several locations across the nation, and this year we are looking to build momentum and have even more teams and employees involved. Aetna is stepping up to take the Step Out Challenge:
- 1,000 walkers: Team members across the country can participate in one of more than 100 diabetes walks across the country, and you can bring your families and friends!
- $100,000: If everyone pitches in, we can raise this amount of money to help stop diabetes!
Aetna is issuing a corporate challenge to support fundraising efforts. The first 20 teams to reach $250 in total team fundraising will be credited with an additional $500 Jump Start Team Challenge Contribution, from the Aetna Community Relations & Urban Marketing Department, that will be included in your fundraising totals at the end of the Step Out campaign.
You can help in three ways:
- Become a Team Captain and recruit a team to walk with you.
- Sign up to walk with a team. Walkers do not have to be Aetna employees.
- Ask your friends and family for online contributions.

(If you do not have/remember this information, click on "Forgot Your Password?" at the top-right corner of the screen to have the information e-mailed to you.)

Walkers: Click the "REGISTER" button below, search for and select your event, then click JOIN A TEAM atop the page. Enter the team's name (if you know it) and/or Team Aetna in the National Team field, and click Search for a Team. When the team appears in the Search Results, click Join to the right of it.
